Dana Long Kim is a Seattle-based photographer whose work explores human connection and beauty in quiet places. Her photographic work has been exhibited in print and online in the USA and Spain.
Dana grew up in Moscow, a small college town in northern Idaho. The open hills of the Palouse region and the freedom of that landscape shaped who she became. She received her BS in Electrical Engineering at the University of Idaho in 1984. After college she worked in Portland and then the Seattle area as an engineer, with a break to study business and receive her MBA from Harvard Business School in 1990. A career in tech left little time for family, so after a while she stayed home with her two kids and volunteered at many organizations. When the kids graduated from college during the pandemic, Dana started taking an interest in photography.
The pandemic gave her lots of time to take online classes, and she has been hooked ever since. She feels it is wonderful to be exploring and developing her artistic side after working in a technical field and then enjoying being a stay-at-home mom. Loving to learn about the world we live in and the people that inhabit it, taking photographs on trips helps Dana connect deeply to the people she meets and the land they inhabit. When she asks someone if she may make their photograph, she feels connected to them as they share that bit of their life with her.JURIED EXIBITIONS
